Arizona State University Transfer Scholarships – For Gil Ruiz, the road to a college degree wasn’t always easy. But thanks to Arizona State University’s Path to the Future program, single father and military veteran Ira A. graduated from the Fulton School of Engineering with a bachelor’s degree in engineering (robotics).

Ruiz, an international transfer student and other transfer students and former military personnel like her, use ASU resources like the Pathway Program and MyPath2ASU to help them succeed academically, not just by providing them with financial aid. “This Pathway scholarship allows me to focus on my academics by giving me financial aid,” Ruiz said. “I’m a single father and I work. If there wasn’t a path to a future program, I would probably work part-time again. Now I can just support myself on books (and) GPA. I really like it. It’s fun!”

Pathways to the Future and MyPath2ASU provide comprehensive support for students who want to transfer to ASU, no matter where they are in their educational journey. They also provide invaluable advice.

“Pathway has not only been a financial resource for me, but also a mentorship resource,” Ruiz said. “My current mentor has helped me build my own professional network and changed the way engineering firms view them.”

Pathways to the Future helps students develop relationships with peers, faculty, counselors, and employers that enable them to gain lifelong learning and the skills they need to thrive in the future workforce. For eligible students, financial assistance is available throughout the program, including assistance for unexpected fees or expenses.

“I even had situations where I had to tap into my emergency fund, and Pathway was there to provide what I needed when I needed it,” Ruiz said. “I’ve never had a problem continuing my education, getting into ASU, and now, almost graduating.”

Resident Transfer Student Tuition

ASU offers the New American University Transfer Scholarship for non-resident transfer students who meet high academic standards and have financial need. Students must submit and complete the FAFSA by May 1 or October 1 in the spring for priority consideration.

ASU supports all students and families who rely on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid to achieve their educational goals. A FAFSA delay can create additional uncertainty for you and your family during the college decision-making process. While we await FAFSA data from the federal government, we can assure you that ASU will not allow a FAFSA delay to prevent you from receiving the financial aid you qualify for. And, if you haven’t already, file your FAFSA as soon as possible to avoid further delays.

Once you submit your FAFSA, check your email and My ASU Priority Tasks periodically—you will be notified if ASU requires additional documentation to verify your FAFSA. Students starting at ASU in the spring who file the FAFSA throughout the year must include ASU on the FAFSA. ASU’s federal school code is 001081.

If you do not meet the SAP requirements, you will be notified by the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship Services. Once notified by the Office of Financial Aid, you will be given the opportunity to appeal.

You must complete the SAP appeal form and submit it to the Financial Aid Office. Next, meet with your academic advisor to create an academic plan to get you back on track and meet SAP requirements. You must submit a statement to show how you have addressed past setbacks and taken positive steps to change.

If your appeal is approved by Financial Aid and Scholarship Services, you will be on probation and eligible for financial aid. If you improve enough to meet SAP requirements during the probationary period, you will be eligible for financial aid. Failure to meet SAP requirements may result in loss of eligibility.

The best way to keep your aid is to meet the eligibility requirements so you don’t have to go through the process. You can view your SAP status under the Finance tab in My ASU.
